Lindley's manufacturing business was based in Luddenden village from 1899. They occupied the Corn Mill in the centre of the village and renamed the corn mill building as The Beauvoir Works.
Lindley's expanded and took over Lower Mill and subsequently the land next to it where the Blue Bell Walk estate is built.
Initially produce machine tools such as lathes and grinders, they continued manufacturing nuts and bolts and industrial fastenings in the village until 1985.
Oats Royd Mill is a Grade II listed former textile mill complex in Luddenden. It was founded by John Murgatroyd & Son in 1847 and operated as a worsted spinning and manufacturing works until its closure in 1982.
After a fire in 1989, the mill was redeveloped into apartments, retaining and replicating many of the historic elements.
